A credential for professionals who provide addiction-related services to people involved in the criminal or juvenile justice system. PCB no longer accepts new applications for the CCJP. If you hold it, you can keep renewing it.

About the CCJP

The CCJP recognizes professionals who provide clinical assessment, addiction treatment, case management, coordination of care or counseling to people involved in the criminal or juvenile justice system. Holders earned it with a bachelor's degree, supervised experience in criminal justice and addictions, and the IC&RC Criminal Justice Addictions Professional exam.

It is an international, reciprocal credential that meets Pennsylvania's state staffing requirements.

Keeping your certification current

Renew every two years with 40 hours of education relevant to addiction or criminal justice, including 3 hours in ethics. There is no limit on online hours.

You can renew up to three months before your expiration date, online through your PCB account or with the recertification application. List your trainings on the application; don't send certificates. If you are selected for a random audit, PCB will ask for copies.

Since January 1, 2026 there is no "lapsed" status: a credential is active or expired. You can still renew for six months after your expiration date, with an additional late fee.

Common questions about the CCJP

Can I still apply for the CCJP?

No. PCB no longer accepts new CCJP applications. If you work with people in the criminal justice system, look at the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or add the Criminal Justice Endorsement to a PCB credential you already hold.

What happens if my CCJP expires?

Your CCJP shows as expired on the credential verification page. You can still renew for six months after your expiration date, with an additional late fee. After six months, contact PCB at info@pacertboard.org about your options.

Is Board Approved education required for recertification?

YES
