About the CCMS
The Certified Case Manager Supervisor (CCMS) recognizes professionals who supervise case managers working with people affected by substance use. PCB no longer issues it to new applicants; current holders keep it active by renewing every two years. The Certified Case Manager (CCSM) is the case manager credential.
Keeping your certification current
Renew every two years with 40 hours of education relevant to addiction, including 3 hours in ethics. There is no limit on online hours.
You can renew up to three months before your expiration date, online through your PCB account or with the recertification application. List your trainings on the application; don't send certificates. If you are selected for a random audit, PCB will ask for copies.
Since January 1, 2026 there is no "lapsed" status: a credential is active or expired. You can still renew for six months after your expiration date, with an additional late fee.
Retiring or stepping away from the field? See inactive and emeritus status.
