A credential for professionals with a bachelor's degree who provide integrated services to people with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. PCB no longer accepts new applications for the CCDP. If you hold it, you can keep renewing it.
About the CCDP
The CCDP recognizes professionals who provide counseling and integrated services to individuals, families or groups with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Holders earned it with a bachelor's degree, supervised co-occurring experience and the IC&RC Co-Occurring Disorders Professional exam. The CCDPD is the master's-level version.
It is an international, reciprocal credential that meets Pennsylvania's state staffing requirements.
Keeping your certification current
Renew every two years with 40 hours of education relevant to co-occurring disorders, including 3 hours in ethics. There is no limit on online hours.
You can renew up to three months before your expiration date, online through your PCB account or with the recertification application. List your trainings on the application; don't send certificates. If you are selected for a random audit, PCB will ask for copies.
Since January 1, 2026 there is no "lapsed" status: a credential is active or expired. You can still renew for six months after your expiration date, with an additional late fee.
Retiring or stepping away from the field? See inactive and emeritus status.
